Engineering Graduate: Geoff

EADS DS Graduate Geoff

Geoff joined EADS in October 2007 after completing his Communication Systems degree at Swansea University.

“Throughout university I had been part of the Officer Training Corps so already had a firm interest in defence. I saw the graduate scheme at EADS DS UK as an excellent opportunity to blend this interest with my degree, while being able to stay in South Wales.

Since being at EADS DS UK I have led an active role in many of the exciting large projects, whilst developing the skills I gained from my degree. The flexibility of the graduate scheme meant I was able to carry out a rotation in the Finance department despite being an engineering graduate.

EADS DS UK take a real interest in the development of graduates; I am currently working towards my CCNA qualification, and have also been on training courses to learn certain skills including management and presentation.”

Engineering Graduate: Nerys

EADS DS Graduate Nerys

Nerys joined EADS in October 2007 after graduating from Cardiff University with a BEng (Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering.

“EADS DS UK have a very positive attitude towards their graduates, provide great on the job training and are very supportive. The management take an active interest in your personal development and encourage you to pursue professional qualifications.

Last summer I completed the Cisco CCNA exam and am currently studying for the CCNA Security exam which I hope to sit this year.

One of the many advantages of the scheme is the ability to rotate through different engineering disciplines and working environments; in my first year I completed three short rotations on different projects. I am currently on my year-long rotation with the Business Capture Team learning about a diverse range of communications technologies and getting involved with customer demonstrations.”

Business Graduate: Adam

EADS DS Graduate Adam

Adam joined EADS in October 2008 having finished his MA (Hons) in Management at Heriot-Watt University.

“After leaving university, I started a graduate scheme with one of Britain’s biggest banks, but found that this scheme was very focused on a particular career path. Unsure of what I wanted to do in the long-term, I began to look for a scheme that would give me the space and time to find the right area for me.

When I found the EADS DS UK graduate scheme I was immediately interested in the flexibility and unique opportunities it offered. EADS DS UK offers an excellent graduate package which includes financial support for relocation – which really helped take the stress out of moving from Edinburgh to Cardiff.

I have quickly settled into the area and really enjoy being part of the graduate community within the company. The scheme has more than lived up to my expectations and I can see an exciting future for me with EADS DS UK.”

Business Graduate: Eryl

EADS DS Graduate Eryl

Eryl joined EADS in October 2008 after graduating from Glamorgan University with a BA (Hons) in Business Information Management.

“During my final year, EADS DS UK visited my university and I immediately realised that their business graduate scheme would allow me to pursue my interests in both technology and business. The location in South Wales was also ideal.

The EADS DS UK graduate scheme offers great flexibility by allowing you to undertake rotations that will suit your needs. Management pay attention to your personal development and will actively guide you with your career path. Graduates are given real tasks and challenges right from the start.

I am still not entirely certain in which business area I would like to pursue my career long term, but the rotation-based first year is ideal in helping me decide.”
